Now Pippa Middleton could attract similar criticism after claims she is poised to sign a lucrative book deal.
The 28-year-old – who helped organise the reception at the April wedding and has seen her celebrity status increase hugely since her sister became the Duchess of Cambridge – is said to be in discussions over a book on party planning.

Although no contract has been signed, it is said that Miss Middleton -who works part-time for her parents' firm Party Pieces - has had meetings with Harper Collins and other publishing houses.
The book could net her more than £1million in sales and spin-off projects.
But it seems she is anxious not to be seen to be making money from her royal links.
She has apparently consulted advisers at St James's Palace over the potential launch date, reported to be Christmas next year.
This would be several months after the country celebrates the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next summer. Inspired by the online magazine she edits for her family's company, called the Party Times, it is believed that Miss Middleton's book, which has not yet been given a title, will offer advice on matters such as party etiquette and decorations. It will also apparently include a section on children's parties.
A publishing source said: 'Pippa is very serious about the project and has been going to see publishers personally.
'Pippa hasn't signed a contract yet but I don't think it will be far off.'
Mr Godwin confirmed he was in talks with Miss Middleton, but refused to elaborate. 'Things aren't at all clear at the moment,' he said.
Her parents, Carole and Michael, were criticised for apparently profiting from their daughter's marriage by selling royal-themed memorabilia on their firm's website, before withdrawing much of it. ( dailymail.co.uk )
